I attended the Oath Ceremony yesterday, September 25, 2025. The ceremony was very quick, lasted about an hour I think. There were 30 people in the ceremony.

The officer who was in charge of the ceremony was very comical and everyone was laughing and smiling throughout the ceremony.

My timeline:

March 26 - Submitted the application online

March 26 - Biometric Reuse notice

July 28 - Interview scheduled notice

September 5 - Interview

September 5 - Recommended to be approved & Place in line for Oath Ceremony

September 8 - Oath Ceremony scheduled notice

September 25 - Oath Ceremony

I am glad that everything went smooth & quick and I completed the process!!

In terms of rapidity,

Is it the first thing to do before applying for  US passport?

I heard that they are no longer walk in services with the SSA for citizenship updates, only through appointments.

That's true, no walk ins in most places.

I'd get passport first. This is what I did personally. Here is my experience updating status with SSA:

To follow up with your experience,

I think the best option is to go first for the passport, Depending of the number of time it's taking for issuing the passport, schedule an appointment for SSA updates. Hoping to receive the passport and your citizenship certificate back before the SSA appointment date.

Sounds like a plan! There's really no rush to update SSA, I did it after receiving passport. But needs to be done.

Does anyone knows if you can come with guests to the Oath Ceremony?

My Oath Ceremony is at the Philadelphia Field Office very soon and I want to take my spouse and my parents. I tried to call the Field Office phone number but it doesn't let you talk to anyone. It's just for closure notices.

I thin that your spouse can.

Even if they can't all get inside, they can still wait for you outside and celebrate together after.

I attended several friend's oath ceremony, I waited for them outside and sometimes in my car.

We definitely met outside after the oath for pictures and fun times.

You can't get into the Dallas office if you don't have an appointment letter.

Depends on office. My spouse wasn't allowed in. The saddest part, there was a disconnect between USCIS employees, when one official said relatives were allowed, and other said not allowed. Some folks called their families and friends, who got to USCIS building and were denied entry

Hi guys

The citizenship questions are kind of multiple choices and you pick correct answer?

Or how is it?.

Thanks

No, your questions will be verbal.  You are not given choices.  The Officer will ask a question, then You must verbally give a correct answer.

Congrats to new citizens!

I'm still waiting, 111 days. Inquiring through Congressmen yields zero results. The field office supervisor ignores my attorneys' inquiries. We decided to wait until the full 120 days pass and then take action. I'm ready to be done with this.

ROC VSC mailed 5/7/14

NOA1 5/9

Check cashed 5/14

Biometrics current

RFE dated 12/18

RFE mailed 1/20

Approved 2/2 ! ( letter came from the local office)

Card received 2/17/15 !!!!

Sorry you're still waiting, it must be stressful. What action would that be? Lawsuit?
