I'd be more focused about immigration history etc. There's something USCIS isn't happy about, probably divorce and legitimacy of marriage if you had one before (sorry, don't remember your history). Or criminal charges (if you had any issues in the past). Or asylum if you claimed. Or prior overstay. Or combination of these.

 

What does lawyer say about all this? They surely know more about your case.

From what I’ve read online, it’s not unusual for them to redo the interview after receiving the A-file. I have no criminal history, but I did forget about a 10-year-old red light ticket, so I’ll make sure to bring that record with me to the next interview. I’m just not sure how to find something that old.

It could also be an issue with my name on the birth certificate — back then, they used to write the child’s name, the father’s name, and then the last name. That format often causes confusion, and people assume the father’s name is my middle name, even though I don’t actually have one.

We’ll find out more once I get there. I also plan on switching attorneys — I don’t like how mine communicates or how little she explains.

Those could be some small issues. However, did you get GC through marriage? If yes, are you still married to that person?

Absolutely! Once my Passport application is away I feel like I’ll get to sit on top of the mountain and enjoy the view for a while.

Are you applying for a large passport book? Same price, more pages. Many countries charge more for them, but not US.

Went for standard; in all my years of having a passport, I've only ever gotten 2 stamps. I'm not what you'd call a world traveller! Also, the places I'm planning to go in the next few years don't even stamp passports anymore; it's all ETAs now.

Also on that note, the passport application is away. Ended up using my Canadian passport (photocopy) as my ID for my new US passport, USPS person said in theory you could use the naturalization certificate for both, but Dept. of State really enjoys having two documents and it could delay things without providing a separate citizenship evidence and ID evidence. Paid the fee for expedited, should be here in 2 weeks, so we'll see!

I see. My other country's passport of standard size was almost maxed out at the time of expiry. Mostly due to US visas etc. I don't think my new US passport will have even a third of pages used, unless I explore Asia and Africa more in the next decade. But then large book is a free upgrade, why not? Given same processing times. It's like saying no to all beatiful food at the buffet I hope it will remain the same price in the future. Only if they start charging more, I may go for regular one.
