Wrong alien ID number on I-94

Hi,

I am filling out the I-485, and noticed that the immigration officer in the port of entry accidently marked my fiances I-94 with the wrong alien ID number (one digit is wrong). Does this matter? Is it possible that he would have entered this wrong number into the computer in a place that would cause problems? Should I call this to attention in the cover letter of the I-485 packet?

Actually this happened to me as well. When I was filling out the I-485 package I put in the correct number all the time. When I received my NOA1 and subsequent letters from USCIS, it had my correct A number, not the wrong one that was copied onto my I-94. I'd just use the correct one. Dont' worry about the one number out that was written in handwriting on your I-94. You're in the computers with the correct one.

Yes, your A number is assigned and what is written on the I-94 is of no consequence for a K1 visa holder because the visa is single entry. Certainly the errant transcription will not impact your adjustment of status. A K3 visa holder would probably be wise to make a USCIS infopass appointment to begin the process of correcting the I-94. We did and were referred to the local CBP officer in charge to make corrections. Our errors were a bit more critical in that the entry date was August 39... and the officer failed to retain the sealed envelope.
