There is a bill(HR8586) that has been introduced in the house to eliminate all family based sponsorships , except for spouse and minor children of US citizens and green card holders. i.e. Parents, siblings and adult children of citizens would no longer be eligible for sponsorship. While it is uncertain as to what the chances are that the bill will make its way into law in its current state , if this is an issue that you care about, you may want to reach out to your congressperson and senator to voice your concern

The full text has not been uploaded yet, but here's a link to media sources with the key provisions of the bill https://www.foxnews.com/politics/america-first-immigration-overhaul-bill-would-codify-trumps-campaign-promises

Sounds like it would make it more like the Canadian system, not that the bill will go anywhere.

Just got DQ’d today!

Has anyone in your family received an interview or interview letter?  Was curious to see how long it takes to get the interview after DQ.  We just finally submitted our DS-260 last night.

It depends on the consulate, can be 2 months, or 2+ years. Is yours Vietnam? Just guessing from your profile. But if so, it's super quick in Ho Chi Minh City.

@Sarah_k92, London is about 5 months for an IL now, the backlog has increased. So you should get an IL about July time, probably for an interview in Sept. You can keep an eye on it here - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/iv-wait-times.html

Yeah, ours is Ho Chi Minh City.  How do you know it's quick?

Edit: Oh, looks like that link you posted, it says Feb-2026 for Ho Chi Minh City.  So about a 3 month wait?
