Silly question about N-400? Maybe not.

Part 16, Oath of Allegiance, clearly states is to be used at the naturalization ceremony.

The question is, if at the interview you may be tested about your knowledge of this oath either by knowing it by memory or explaining it in your own words?

(We understand that PART 9 question 32 asks if you understand the Oath of Allegiance.)

The interviewer goes through all the Yes/No responses from your N-400 (Correct any responses if needed, I had couple that I had to flip N to Y, and Y to N) before getting to the very end last three or so Oath Y/N that were left blank in your initial application. I read these beforehand from my N-400 application just to make sure I give correct responses and I hear the questions right.

The actual knowledge of it would only be covered in the Civics question if it's asked.

The closest Civics questions I can think of are:

- What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?

- What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?

No, you don't need to remember oath. During ceremony, you will be repeating words after USCIS person.

About explaining oath, yes, it's possible interviewer may ask you questions related to meaning of the words. This typically happens if officers thinks your English is not as fluent.

For example, he / she may ask what does it mean to bear arms or what allegience or fidelity is etc.

Feedback, opinions, and personal experiences about the N-336 appeal process after an N-400 denial, especially concerning a rejected N-648 Medical Disability Exception, are highly valued and appreciated!!!

So far, I have learned that it must be submitted within 30 days of the N-400 denial, and typically the hearing is held within 180 days by a USCIS Immigration Officer, not by an immigration judge.

If a decision is not made within 120 days after the citizenship interview, the applicant can request a hearing in the United States district court for their district of residence. This option for judicial review does not require filing Form N-336 with USCIS first.

The AAO (Administrative Appeals Office) is a distinct body that manages appeals for most other USCIS decisions. You may be able to appeal to the AAO if your N-336 is denied, depending on the particular situation and the relevant appeal procedures.

They used my wife's photo from her I-751 biometrics which were done 4 years earlier.

Google also states USCIS uses the photo taken at the biometrics appointment and You tube demo videos indicate the picture is taken when you seat down right after the swearing under oath at the interview.

They reused by biometrics data, but they took another picture at the end of my interview.

My photo and fingerprints were taken before naturalization interview, but they still used old photo from my AOS era on naturalization certificate. Can't complain, I look younger on it 😃

No additional photos were taken before ceremony. I had same day oath.

WHAT!!! 😱  Somehow I did not know this. I thought they took a picture before the oath, and that's why we had to show up early. UGH! That GC picture is seriously one of the ugliest pictures of me of all time. I still have a grudge with that person for telling me I looked "fine". 😒

Your mileage may vary. Each office does things slightly differently as it appears

I'm furiously Googling, but everything seems to indicate they either use GC picture if they re-use biometrics, or they use the picture taken during N-400 biometrics. 😭
