Hi all

I read somewhere on here that after you apply for your SS card, you can call and find out what your number is while you are waiting for your card.

Is that true, because on the confirmation letter she gave us after we turned in the application, it has a 1-800 number, but it says something to the effect of not dvulging ss numbers over the phone for security reasons.

if not, is there a way to find out your number before the card comes?

They wont give out SSN over phone, it is a number that can be the first step in identity theft, and they have now easy way to know that the person that the number belongs to is the actual person on the phone.

When you do get the card, put it in a safe place, my number is committed to memory, and I do not carry that card.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Usually they are giving print out of SSN the moment you apply if you will ask for it. But in my case when i apply for SSN their computer system are down so the SS Officer told me to go back after 2 weeks to get my SSN but the card will take 4 weeks for them to deliver.

So try to back to the SS office and ask for your SSN.
