@Ontarkie do you know if Montreal makes you wait for an email before you can start the process for the K-1 once the CEAC status has changed to "Ready"?

Yes, Montreal needs the welcome letter before a date can be picked.

I just called Montreal consulate and told the lady I have a case number and a ready status in CEAC, what should I wait for? And she said NVC instructions not Montreal. This is so confusing

How on earth did you reach someone in Montreal? They never accept phone calls and has been the issue for at least 20yrs.

You will want to jump on over to the Canada forum also if you haven't found it. Montreal can be a different kind of beast with what they require.

That is awesome.

As a fellow Canadian, can you expand on what you did?
It would benefit me and help me understand what to expect. A lot of mystification.

Hey, sure :) I personally did not wait to receive montreal package 3 instructions by mail after "NVC left" notice to start moving forward, because of canada post delays (some fb group trick that other K1 girls told me).

You can easily type "K1 package 3 Montreal instructions" online and find the exact pdf they are going to send you anyway. If you log in often to CEAC with your MTL2025xxxxxx case number and see that your "READY" last updated date changed (mine went from May 23 to June 2) that means the package is on the way and you can email them directly what they will request (scanned DS-160 confirmation page, scanned documents checklist checked and scanned canadian police report).

Please make sure that you have the correct canadian police report. I had to redo mine (wasted 90$ CAD) cause it had my picture and fingerprints on it and what they want is a full privacy act record with mention "other - provide details". The fingerprint place should know what to do. You can find instructions online.

Following that email, Montreal consulate will reply to you by email with package 4 (mine was 1 business day later! super fast) with instructions to book interview and medical exam.

Do not book medical or interview before receiving package 4. They will cancel your appointments with no refunds.

We did not previously have to pay anything to NVC for all they did, you pay one time online with the consulate with your credit card on the same portal where you will book your K1 interview. It's one fee for everything (about 390$ CAD). Let me know if you have any questions :)

So for clarity, you waited two weeks when your case went to NVC, messaged NVC via inquiry and received your embassy code, used that to gather your paperwork and email the embassy?

Re/ police report, I already did one at the fingerprint place where I told them it was for immigration.
I will have to check on that.

May 20 (CASE NUMBER) :  My fiancé, the petitioner,  received our case number (MTL2025xxxxxx) by email in the NVC welcome letter.

May 23 (READY 1): I saw on CEAC that our case was READY at Montreal.

June 2 (READY 2): I saw on CEAC the same READY text but with an updated date. Starting this moment, you can gather package 3 documents and email Montreal consultate.

Hope it makes sense, on K1 fb groups and forums they call it READY 1 and READY 2.

Don't wait for Canada Post. I scheduled my interview and everything and still haven't received package 3 by mail. Maybe some time this week? Honestly, if it wasn't for this awesome K1 community, I would be so lost lol.

Where are you at? Do you have your case number?

Our case just went to DOS, we have our initial petition number but not the new one from the Consulate yet as our case is just now going to the NVC.

Regarding your documentation, will you send photocopies of your petitioners documents instead of originals / are those sufficient for booking your interview?

One thing I am confused about is whether or not we need to present the originals of our petitioners documents (social security, birth certificate, ID/ licences / Passports, etc) in any form at the interview, or if good photocopies are sufficient.
