This morning, I received an "Update" that my case has been sent to "Department of State".  I am guessing that's the NVC?

Seriously, I breathed a sigh of relief when we got the updated news! I had filed I-824 on August 2023 and was feeling so dreadful.   This has been a breath of fresh air, and world lifted off our backs.

Now I am waiting for NVC to send us the CEAS (?) case #.

What should I expect next?  How long does it take from NOW to his "departure" to USA?

Congrats. The timescale is partly influenced by you now - how quickly you pay the fees, upload the docs and submit the DS-260 will have a bearing on the timescale. Once that's all done and NVC have decided you're documentary qualified, then he'll be added to the queue for an interview.

After that it looks like it's about 4-6 months to get an interview (https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/793740-time-from-dq-to-il-casablanca-morocco/page/4/#comments), and then you just have to hope he's not put in to AP. If all goes well, he could be in the US early next year.

Good luck.

Thank you...

Question:  What does "Put into AP" mean?

Question:  Petitioner applies to I-864 while Beneficiary applies to DS 260?  Correct?

I appreciate your input.

after submitting civil documents to NVC ,  send originals to him in morocco to take to interview\

I used USPS overnight ( took about a week to go thru inspection in US and Morocco) but other carriers are very expensive

Your information is very helpful!  I will be sure to bring originals this summer with me when I go see him.  Much appreciated!

Is it still required for the beneficiary to bring the original Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) to their interview if the petitioner lives in the U.S. and the beneficiary resides in another country, or is a photocopy sufficient?
