Hello everyone,

my interview is coming in 10days ( i485). What documents should I bring with me . I have medical report done , but what else should I bring with me . Someone told me that I need birth certificates and a translated copy of it.  What do they usually ask at the interview and what documents to submit ? Anyone had an interview recently nyc office (26 federal plaza) ? What questions were asked?

I did not have to go there for an interview. However, i never heard anyone having issue there. It should be straight forward from your form i-485. If they ask anything related to abuse then you have right to ask for supervisor.

Thank you for your respond . I read online that they need all work authorizations and AP to bring with you also proof of entry . I remember I submitted everything at the very beginning , not sure if should take originals and copies right the way . But really need to know if I need to translate birth certificate

Any documents in foreign language should be translated. Online services can do it for cheap.

Yes take all the EAD and other proof with you. There are offices in NYC who can translate foreign language documents for you.

Thank you so much, fam! I have been getting so anxious because of all this that it has impacted my sleep and work performance. My work keeps me busy and I’m glad for it otherwise I’d go crazy. I’m a March-2022 filer, did everything on my own (without an attorney) and haven’t received an RFE yet. I do have a 5 year combo card. I’m expecting a response soon as the trend shows they’re working on Jan-Mar 2022 right now. I hope I get approved without an RFE by the grace of God. I will let you know as soon as I hear something.

Where did you got this information that they are working on Jan-Mar 2022 files?

It is Wednesday, and time for our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

===========================================

THE VERY BAD PARROTS

A lady went to her parish priest one day and said, "Father, I have a problem.  I have two female parrots, but they know how to say only one thing."

"What do they say?" the priest inquired.

"They say, 'Hi!  We are prostitutes.  Do you want to have some fun?'"

"That's obscene!" the priest exclaimed.  "I can see why you are embarrassed."  He thought for a minute and then said, "You know, I may have a solution.  I have two male parrots whom I have taught to pray and read the Bible.  Bring your two parrots over to my house, and we will put them in the cage with Francis and Job.  My parrots can teach your parrots to pray and worship.  I'm sure your parrots will stop saying that... that phrase in no time."

The woman happily agreed.  The next day, she brought her female parrots to the priest's house.  As he ushered her in, she saw the two male parrots inside their cage, holding their rosary beads and praying.  Impressed, she walked over and placed her parrots in with them.

After just a couple of seconds, the female parrots exclaimed in unison, "Hi!  We are prostitutes.  Do you want to have some fun?"

There was a stunned silence.  Finally, one male parrot looked over at the other male parrot and said, "Put the beads away, Francis -- our prayers have been answered!"

I’m a GC holder through a VAWA self-petition, and I’m getting ready for my naturalization interview. I wanted to ask:

  • For those who went from a VAWA-based green card to citizenship, what was your interview experience like?

  • Did the officer ask any questions about the abuse or the VAWA process during your N-400 interview?

  • Should I bring my VAWA approval notice or any abuse-related documents with me, just in case?

I appreciate any insights you can share. Thanks in advance!
