When does the beneficiary NEED their passport?

I mean after that (the physical passport in hand), but oh snap! You just made me think of another problem. My beneficiary expired and we used that number on the application. And I looked up for America (I don't know how it is in their country) and passport numbers change when renewed.

You had me scared for a second. I didn't put their any of their passport info on the i-129f because it's only needed if they are in the U.S.

"If your beneficiary is currently in the United States, complete 
Item Numbers 38.a. - 38.h." So no 38e
