I read through this whole thread and I'm not clear on the exact details. I had an I-130 for a parent approved almost a year ago (February 2023) but we have not started the NVC process. I logged into the CEAC with the credentials given in the welcome letter. Is logging in sufficient to keep the case open? In the pinned post it seems like more is needed, including submitting DS-260, but this is Step 6 in the NVC process, so I am confused. Any advice appreciated!

EDITED TO ADD: I should add that the NVC welcome letter included the sentence:

"IMPORTANT: If you do not log into CEAC or communicate with NVC regarding this immigrant visa case for a period of one year, by law the Department of State must terminate your visa application."

At the time I uploaded the DS 260, I did not know much, so I just uploaded it in order to have some activity.  Later, I uploaded some things, then deleted them, for some activity.  They won't  do anything with anything until you do the submission.

Your second post was confirmed by an e-mail to NVC.  A login is apparently sufficient.  I keep a "login log" and check it once in a while.
