Hi!

NVC just DQ'd us and now we are waiting for the interview letter from the Brussels Embassy.

Does anyone have any idea the estimated waiting time from either experience or comments made here in the forum? I can see a the people that have Brussels in their timelines but it's not as common as other places and not as frequent.

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks x

Hi,

I'm in the same boat as you and waiting for an interview in Brussels (IR1).

DQ'd on September 12 and still no news from the embassy.

Seems that Brussels is one of the few in Europe backed up by any unknown reason.

I don't expect anything this year anymore as the holidays are coming up.

I will keep you posted as soon as I have an interview letter.

As you are not far of my date, it should need to be around the same time.

Good luck.

Thomas

i have no idea what’s going on with the embassy! It seems like prior to September it was only taking 5 weeks or so for the IL and now it’s just massively backlogged.

Hopefully it’ll start opening up dates in the new year as I have no hope for next week.

Any updates on your end?

I haven't received the IL yet and it's almost been 4 months :(

Sadly no news at my end yet.

I seen a reddit post in the nationalvisacenter subreddit with people who were also waiting in Brussels.

It seems that the embasy is seriously backlogged.

No idea why as it seems the rest of Europe is doing okay.

Just need to wait I guess.

I will update as soon as I have my interview letter.

Thank you both for posting when you were DQed. Our date for that was December 04, so this is a good gauge for time! We also had no idea about the backlog in Brussels. 😞

No idea what’s going on with them. It was pretty quick prior to Sept.

Sadly I’m still waiting.

I was even able to email the embassy to get any type of answer and they just gave me back:

Dear,

We have not received your file yet.
The interview letter will be sent to you by NVC, we don't know when this will be.

Sincerely,
Visa Section

It’s getting really frustrating 😒

Joining this topic, as my embassy is also the one in Brussels.

Haven’t gotten DQ’d yet, but all documents have been submitted to the NVC.

It seems that in December the embassy issued 4 CR-1 visas and 5 IR-1 visas.

This is more than they issued in November, so let’s hope they’ll pick up the pace soon!

Hi all,

Yes it's getting frustrating as I also don't have an interview date yet.

I was really thinking there was something wrong with my case but it seems I'm not the only one.

Very weird though that approvals only a few weeks before went through without any backlog?

No clue what is happening.

@Benny1337 can you also keep us posted? You have your approval a bit later. Curious to see if you maybe get your interview earlier.

@SmPP We can do nothing more then wait on the interview. Let us hope it moves soon. As soon as I get my interview date, I'll let you know.

As promised I have an update on the interview.

Just right now I got the following mail:

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in BRUSSELS, BELG approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application.

The National Visa Center sent your immigrant visa application to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in BRUSSELS, BELG for their action.

The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview.

Very strange as I didn't request any expedite processing (as we didn't qualify for this).

All very strange but I assume the interview letter will follow soon :D

I hope that for all of you this will also follow soon!

Good luck and I keep you posted when I have a date for the the interview.

Hi!

I was literally going to update too. I got the same email about an hour ago and checked my visa status and it finally shows our case being at Brussels rather than stuck at NVC. Never requested it either as we also did not qualify for it.

Also, I know someone else DQ'd in Sept that received the email too and their DQ is earlier than mine!

I believe they just did a mass expidite for everyone in September 2023 (they might do this for some embassies to move things along with the backlog).

I'm glad things are finally moving forward! Will report back when I have an interview date.

OK now things moved very fast for me.

I have an interview at the 8th of March :D

Didn't expect it to be so fast so now I cannot book the medical in time anymore.

But in the mail it did say that you can have the medical after the interview so that's what I will do.

Finally after all the waiting it seems to be going forward now.

If all goes well, the visa will be OK at the end of March (after the medical).

I hope I helped everyone waiting at Brussels a bit with sharing my timeline.

Hope that for all of you guys the interview is scheduled soon. It seems they are doing some work now!

Thank you so much for the updates! Happy for you both! At this rate, it seems like we should hear from them in late April/May! 😀
