Hi,

My mother is a Russian citizen, she has IR5 visa immigrant processing in Almaty - we have just submitted the documents.

How long does it take to get the interview schedule in Almaty after DS-260 submission?

Is it required to get the medical exam in Almaty, not in Russia? Is the medical exam and interview in Russian? (My mom doesn't speak much English:))

My understanding  - the medical exam needs to be in the same trip, 2-3 days before the interview - is it correct?

Do you accompany parents for the interview and exams to help them with translations?

My mom got her Covid certificate 1 year ago - is it OK?

What are the best places to stay in Almaty ?

How do they travel from Russia/Almaty to US - can they use IR5 to stay/re-entry in Europe? Or they have to travel for a few days as transit without getting out of airports?

Finally - once they are in US - do you need to apply for GC? How?

Thank you!!

I think it would be much easier to get the medical done in Almaty so the results are sent to the consulate faster. The medical office is a local clinic so they speak Russian. You can also request the interview to be in Russian, some consular officers speak very fluent Russian and I heard it first hand.

They will not let petitioners inside.

You don’t need to worry about doctor offices or any other places for that matter, virtually everyone knows Russian in Kazakhstan.

Yes

The best area/neighborhood in my opinion would be Zolotoy Kvadrat, it’s essentially the city center/downtown area.

If they have a valid Schengen visa, there’s no issue. You can travel anywhere you want as long as you enter the US before the visa expires.

After the visa is issued you have to pay the $220 fee for it to be printed.
