Administrative Process 221g

Hello everyone, I had an interview on November 1st. The consul told both my wife (who is the winner of the green card) and me that everything was okay and that the visa would be issued within a maximum of two weeks. However, after that day, we were placed in administrative processing, and we were asked to provide additional documents with some additional questions. I promptly submitted the answers on the same day we received the request. It has been over 9 months since then, and I am still waiting for a response. Is there anything else I can do at this point?

Welcome to Visa Journey.  Where did you interview?  As you know, administrative processing is open-ended. There is no defined period.  In addition, it can be neither waived nor expedited.  The only option, other than just waiting it out, is to sue the US government (consulate).  However, that would not guarantee a positive outcome.  Good luck.  I hope your visa is issued soon.

in Georgia (the country) mean that administrative processing could take more than one year? I thought administrative processing couldn't exceed one year.

What kind of visa? What is the status on CEAC and when was it last updated?

Immigrant Visa. CEAC has some problems, and I don't know what these problems are. I can't check it anymore; it displays:

  • Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number.

However, when I last checked, it was still showing the same status as in the beginning. My status is: Refused, while my wife's status is: Ready.

Last updated was in 18-19 july, while my wifes was on probably 1st June

Hmm…I guess you can always try contacting the embassy to check. Your deadline isn’t 9/30 of this year is it? If so, I’d imagine they’ll be in contact soon.

Did she apply before you were married? I know in Ghana they are often skeptical of marriages that happen after someone has won the DV lottery. If this is the case, maybe that’s part of the extended delay.

Hello Georgebox, were you able to figure it out why CEAC status is still showing "Invalid Immigrant Visa Case number"? Have you heard from consulate yet?
