I agree with pushbrk...FTI...Follow The Instructions: If you are asked for something, provide it. If you are not asked...don't provide. I suggest that you follow pushbrk's advice...the information that he provides is RIGHT ON THE MONEY 99.9% of the time!!

Good Luck!

The OP already has an approved I-129F/I-130. Her I-129F is at the embassy in London UK.

They specifically ask for previous marriages certificates...so i would give it to them. I wouldnt want to get RFEd for something silly like that. They are not difficult to get, so why risk it. The whole process takes long enough when you do everything correctly...why add time to it. But what do i know! Hope this helps and good luck.

Let's be careful. The form instructions do not specifically ask for prior marriage certificates but they do ask for documentation of any name changes. Whenever marriage certificates can be that documentation, it's a good idea to get them. USC, men are not likely to need them, nor are women who kept their maiden names.

It does on the checklist.

I was never asked for my previous marriage certificate* all the consulate was interested in was proof of termination of my previous marriage as i researched again and again on the U.S.embassy in London's website*

Termination of Prior Marriages* - applicants who has been previously married must obtain evidence of the termination of each prior marriage such as final divorce decree, death certificate or annulment. Evidence must be in the form of the original document issued by a competent authority, or a certified copy bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority.

The guides for K-3 are basically the same for K-1/K-2. It gives basic details of what is included in the checklist.

I went through the K1 route and i had previously been married and divorced - I was able to get a copy of my marriage certificate from the courts here in Leicester, UK where I was married to my first husband - I took that along with my divorce decree at the interview - and well they didnt even ask for it all they wanted was the decree absolute - which is what I also sent a copy of when starting the petition originally. ( I thought it was best to have it with me at the interview just incase they wanted to see the paper trial of name changes and from a post I read here sometime ago saying they wanted to see the marriage certificate too. - my solicitor took the original when we did the divorce)

Thank you. "It" is the Vancouver, BC Canada Consulate's K3 K4 visa applicant instructions. Prior Marriage certificates are not needed unless they are to document a name change. Some other Consulates do not ask for them in their instructions.

Yep better to be safe than sorry:) its a few more £'s going out but its best to spend that now than to wait another few weeks to get the visa :)
