Philippine Embassy in Luxembourg/ Belgium

Moderators, I wasn't sure where to post this so please direct me to the right forum if not here. Thanks.

 

My sister is in Luxembourg for training until May 31st and unfortunately her purse with her passport, IDs, cash and cards was stolen from the hotel's restaurant where she is staying. She filed a police report and her company is helping her financially and I send her instant noodles and canned goods through Amazon. She needs to renew her passport or apply for a travel document but the Philippine embassy where she's at is permanently closed and the closest is in Brussels. My question is.. she does not have a passport; she has a copy of her old passport with her visa, the original copy of police report (that needs to be translated in English), letter from her company saying she's under their sponsorship, passport photos, and a confirmed appointment letter for passport application..is this enough to cross the border? I have no idea how borders in Europe works that's why I'm asking. Is there anyone here who had the same experience? Please help.

Hi, there is no border control between Luxembourg and Belgium.  It is part of the Schengen Area - International travelers are controlled when they first arrive in the area, but usually not between countries (exceptionally, controls happen, but currently nothing listed between Luxembourg and Belgium).   Your sister should not encounter any problems in her short trip to Belgium.  Wishing her the best of luck.

normally there's no passport control around schengen countries by land
