Wow. The NVC timeline updated today. Based on this update it is saying they did not work on any cases last week. So everyone who is waiting just lost another week.

Last week: As of 20-Jun-23, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 5-Jun-23

Today: As of 26-Jun-23, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 5-Jun-23

Heard back from my congressman, USCIS sent them an email where the brunt of the update was this:

Quote

USCIS records indicate the petition was approved, 03/13/2023, and was returned to California Service Center (CSC) on 05/25/2023 and is currently in the process of being prepared to be transmitted to the National Visa Center (NVC). We acknowledge the concern regarding the transfer of the petition to the NVC. Please allow 60-90 days from date of approval for NVC to receive and update this petition.

Spoke with someone in a FB group who received a similar message on the same day from their congressman and after following up with USCIS live chat learned that the case had been sent off to NVC already and that the case status will update in a few days. So I tried the same today and had this lovely interaction.

My goodness, what a rude agent you got there. I am sorry about this interaction and that you didn't get any help, but also happy your congressman was able to get some insider info (even though vague) and your case may be finally returning to NVC!!!!

Those folks in tier 1, have no clue, in what going on. they are limited in what they can see.

Does anyone know how long the 'At NVC' to 'In Transit' & 'In Transit' to 'Ready' stages typically last? Provided there's no embassy backlog.

I dunno but ours has been at NVC (assigned case number) since 13 June. It reached NVC the week before that. Not sure why we are being left behind 🥲.

Yeah, ours has probably been sitting there since May 24 or so (going by USCIS shipping date). I pray to the immigration gods to let just these last few steps go smoothly for once lol

I've seen some conflicting information about when you can submit your DS-160. Some say you can submit as soon as you've got your case number, others that you have to wait until your case is ready at the embassy. Which one is true?

From my understanding. Th DS-160 should be done after you get your case number and before your interview. I not sure tho..

As soon as you have your case number, you can technically fill out your DS-160. Doing it before for your case is in ready status will have no problems. The only thing you can't do at most embassies is your medical and interview appointment scheduling before your case is ready. Everyone I spoke to already filled out their DS-160 before their case was ready (myself included). Just be sure to take your time and fill it out.
