Need help - divorce

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I've posted my situation and got some replays that helped a lot... I appreciate! But I'm still afraid and don't knnow what to do. This morning my husband came to talk to me about our divorce and wants to book me on the next flight to Brazil, before file for our divorce. I said I'm not leaving without any agreement between us... I don't trust him and cannot support me and my son. Anyway... he says that I have no rights, because he doesn't have anything in his name and that he's only responsability is to open an account for our son, for his future. He says that he will make me miserable for staying in the house, without money, car, anything.

Says that when I leave to Brazil, he wants our son here for at least 3 months a year... Which i agree, but he's 8 months old and he will not travel without me as a baby. How's that work? Can someone help me?

When he hit me a few days ago, he said I would have any marks for peaple to see, but nnow I can see some bruses on my legs, I took some pictures, but they are not clear... Can I use them if I need to?

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. You should contact a lawyer as soon as possible. And go to some sort of abused womens shelter as soon as you can. Good luck.

True, he would say that you left home, but is it worth it to stay with him if he's abusive? What about your baby? Think of what is safe for you both. Talk to an immigrations lawyer and they can advise you on the legal aspects of your situation. I hope someone comes along with good advice for you.

I would contact a women's shelter or the police before your bruises fade away. Without bruises, you may not have evidence of abuse. For your own safety and that of your baby, you need to get out before he hurts you any more. The police can take you to a shelter and from there, you should get the help that you need. But I would definately start there. Good luck to you

Report the incident to the police, and make sure that the police know that there is a chance you may need a copy of their report and photographs of the incident for your immigration case. Have them properly document what has occured, and GET A COPY.

Sorry to read you have problems, he can say as much as he wants but you do not have to believe it all.

Go for the police report, he may want to put you in a plane and to have his son 3 months every year, but that is just what he wants, he is not the law, the same law that put you together and protected your marriage, will separate you and will decide what he gets or not.
