Joint Sponsor Original Passport Required?

Is the joint sponsors original passport required at anytime during the process for petitioning for US Citizen parents?

A joint sponsor will have no involvement at the petition stage.  After the petition is approved and the case goes to the NVC, proof of the joint sponsor's US citizenship or LPR status will be required.  If the sponsor is a USC, a copy of their US passport bio page will be sufficient.  No need to present the original passport.
