Well, in Brazil if you order a .99 cent hamburguer from the dollar menu, it actually costs .99 cents, and not 1.08, which makes a difference if you only have a one dollar bill (has happened to me as a student).

Sales tax is different from state to state and even city to city. That's why it's not included in the price; we do expect people to be capable of simple arithmetic.

McDonald's in Brazil is way overpriced. I guess because here you have tons of fast food places to choose and it's normal to eat that on a daily basis and in Brazil McDonalds is the market leader, so not only people don't have many choices of similar food, but also they only eat there when they go out with their kids, or to the movies.

I remember in UK, the VAT is usually included in the displayed price.

Equivalent (GST inclusion) is also at "Second Cup" outlets in Alberta (dunno if in other provinces they also include PST--as this approach would otherwise butcher its calculation).

One thing I noticed about McDonalds is that in the UK it cost say 5.25GBP for a big mac meal and it costs the same here in the US $5.25.... but if you convert the money it would be like paying $10.50 in the US for the same thing... in theory in the UK it should cost 2.72GBP.... some profit being made...

they said they raised the price cos of the dollar menu! lol. but yeah the manager apologized tons and offered to give me free food but I was like ugh no I'm not coming back. she charged that much more BEFORE tax. I told the manager that I own my own business and I would like to know if my employees were being horrible to customers. grrrrr.

Well, not really since it only excludes sales tax, but not taxes over the products, which is different for each product.

Fat food i mean fast food is gross but if your really hungry have nothing for lunch and broke its the best way to go lol.
