I went to McDonalds this morning to get a sausage mcmuffin. The price on the board was $2.89 for the meal but I was charged $3.59. When I asked the lady she said their prices have gone up. So I said well shouldn't you charge the price you advertise? She then proceeded to turn into a complete beoyatch. Told me it was already in the computer and there was nothing she could do about itI didn't get the food I was so mad that she was being a b. So I called the manager and he said he doesn't know why she did that the price hasn't changed. #######? I didn't care that much that it was more I was more peeved that she had the nerve to get all crappy with me when I asked. I'm never going there again.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I never support fast food places. They poison people.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I just love how incompetent people cover up their mistakes with lies! I hope, at least, that the manager apologized for her biznatch of an employee. Trouble is, as much as we boycott cetain locations (I have a few on my list for similar reasons!) it won't make one iota of difference. They will always have Sh!theads working for them who don't value customers.

Happened to me once.

Two women tried to charge me $8 for a meal that cost $5 ($5 was the price written on the board.)

When I confronted them, they "didn't understand" me at first ("wrong price!" - "you want fries?")

then told me it was the tax ($3 tax?? huh?) then told me the condiments were extra.

Basically, they kept lying and lying and I was getting nowhere, so I said "f* it", went back

to work and emailed their customer service department.

They called me back, apologised, offered a free meal and said they would send an investigator

to check them out (the women were Bangladeshi, apparently.) I hope they got fired.

I've noticed there is a difference in how you get taxed on fast food...at least here in California. If I go to Subway, there is no sales tax for a sandwich, but if I buy a burrito at Baja Fresh, the tax is 8.5 cents on the dollar. It's crazy.

Was this one in Canada? Even then, the $0.70 difference is way more than can be explained by PST and GST combined.

The maximum extra that could reasonably be charged in US is $0.29 (in Washington, DC city--where sales-tax rate is 10%) leading to a forkout of $3.18 (a good $0.41 less than this chopfrack decided to explain away by lying).

Also, it is illegal for any store or restaurant to charge more (pretax) than the lowest visible price.

Happened to me, too - in my old work canteen. I wouldn't have even noticed the 'made up' price if it hadn't been so ridiculous - I had some chicken casserole stuff & rice. The chicken casserole was about £2.50, the rice should've been about 80p, I think.... and the cashier tried to charge me something like £7. I got the blank 'I'm going to pretend not to understand you' response, and when I continued to press the point, she insisted that that was how much the two cost together. I finally got very pissed off with this and hunted down the manager, and got charged the correct price of £3-whatever. I remember the cashier's response when the manager berated her was that she didn't know how much the rice was supposed to cost, and so had 'guessed'. Yeah, right.

Amber&Neil... did you at least get a decent apology out of the manager? They need to be doing something about that....

One thing I noticed about McDonalds is that in the UK it cost say 5.25GBP for a big mac meal and it costs the same here in the US $5.25.... but if you convert the money it would be like paying $10.50 in the US for the same thing... in theory in the UK it should cost 2.72GBP.... some profit being made...

I noticed that too! They really rip you off in the UK for fast food like McDs & BK. And they don't even have the same variety on the menu as in the US, adding insult to injury.

Especially when they were known for using McLard for frying for a considerable time.

On highway trips, especially through OH, I go out of my way to avoid service plazas which have only MickeyD.

You can never go wrong with the dollar menu. LOL thats why its the dollar menu. At least they cant charge me more than a dollar. $1.08 including tax for a double cheese burger or a spicy Mc Chicken. =0)

McDonald's has a dollar menu? Geez, where have I been? I thought that was only a Wendy's thing. I guess I need to go to McDonald's more often.

I remember a hamburger cost 40p (80c) in the UK, a cheeseburger -- 70p ($1.40).

In the US a cheeseburger costs $1.10 ($1 + tax), so not a very dramatic difference.
