My friend was selected for DV last year and had his interview recently. He was given 221G as he was missing info about his family. The consulate kept his and his family passports.

He now provided the missing document. What happens now? How long is the wait? Someone told him that the consulate is not obligated to even review the document he provided. He is very worried.

Thanks in advance!

All DVs for this fiscal year must be issued no later than September 30th.  If they cannot be issued by that date, any remaining cases must be denied.  The Embassis do their best -- even if it takes pulling staff and resources from other cases -- to complete all pending cases by the deadline.  It will also depend on whether there are still visa numbers available (there Is a limit on the total number of DVs that can be issued worldwide and per country.)  If a visa number is not available, no more can be issued.

Given the date and visa number limits, he will know for sure by the end of next week (September 30th).
