Hello everyone,

I went for my consulate interview on Monday, the consular said there is a ‘hits’ on my name so washington have to remove it? I checked my CEAC today and it says refused? Please what does it mean by there is a Hit on my name? Please anyone with similar experience?  Thanks 🙏🏽

It means that your name is similar to someone on the US government's watchlist.  Expect to get a DS-5535 questionnaire or something similar asking about your travel history.  It's likely that your case will take months under administrative processing.

I checked my I 94 and I don’t see my last departure from the US which was in August 2020 only the arrival is there. Is that the problem?

The CO mentioning a "hit on your name" and "Washington" likely means it has something to do with the terrorist/criminal watchlist, not just a visa overstay.  That said, your I-94 history having missing departure entry is also a problem, as it typically indicates overstay.  A relatively recent overstay with more than 6 months of unlawful presence would make you ineligible for a new visa.  You should have had your I-94 record corrected prior to the interview.  Still, it would be a good idea to have it corrected now.

how do I correct the I 94?

1.  Contact the CBP Traveler Communications Center at +1 (202) 325-5120, or

2.  Write to the DHS Travel Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP) -- https://www.dhs.gov/trip

More info here (under "What can I do if I feel the information regarding my departure from the United States is incorrect?") -- https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/faq
