Hi all. My fiancé has to go to another country for work while we are waiting for his K-1 visa. So he will be applying for another visa in a different country. When our K-1 visa is approved he will be coming here. Will this hurt our chances of being approved?

His other visa is not a concern to US government. So, NO

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

No, it will not hurt your chances of being approved.

But which embassy/consulate you choose for the interview can determine how fast your K1 application gets processed.

Not really. Even at fastest Consulate, you need to establish residency in that country to be eligible to interview at that Consulate. Establishing residency takes time.

Yes, the K1 beneficiary certainly needs legal visa and legal residence in the 3rd country.

And no, the 3rd country visa application does not affect the US K1 application.

But doing a little research if the 3rd country or the K1 beneficiary home country embassy/consulate has the faster K1 processing time and choosing the faster embassy/consulate for the interview can save some time. If you look at my profile and Timeline, you can see what I am talking about since my K1 beneficiary saved over a year of wait time by working and interviewing in a 3rd country.
