We got married and got he marriage certificate. Now we are ready to apply for the SSN for my spouse. Could someone let me know what option I need to select on the SSN form? 2nd or 3rd option from below? I think option 2 but just wanted to make sure if she is allowed to work or not as we have not yet started her Green Card process.

Select "Legal Alien Allowed to Work".

You just need to apply for the AOS/EAD to be able to work.

Thanks. I thought so too but wondering if the SSA go by the visa she has in the passport i.e K1 and might reject saying that she is not eligible to work until she gets the EAD which will be at least 6-8 months down the road after applying for the green card. If they go by that she gets the SSN now which will not be valid for work and later after getting the EAD reapply to change it to eligible to work. Very confusing.

Yes complete the SS-5 form, and need to take the passport with visa, birth certificate, I-94. Supposed to file before marriage.

But in your case, you also need to bring the marriage certificate. And yes since you are married, they may ask you to apply with EAD? Depends on how knowledgeable the SS office is?
