1-131 information - reentry permit or parole doc?

Tried to find the answer to this already but couldn't.

In the process of submitting all documents with regard to recent marriage to US citizen, my J1 visa is expiring in a month or so.

While waiting for the outcome of that mammoth amount of paperwork, I would like to be able to travel home to see my parents who I haven't seen since pre pandemic. I'm going though form i-131, but unsure on some check boxes.

Part 2 gives me these options

I'm unsure if I should select 1.a. or 1.d? I guess the question is answered by if I need to apply for a reentry permit, or an advanced parole document? I think I am thinking in technicalities as by putting 1.a. I am not a permanent resident or even conditional resident yet as all that paper will be sent off at the same time as this form.

Hope that made sense! Thanks!

Ian

Once you have a pending I-485, you will need advance parole in order to return to the US.  It may take up to 8 months to get it.

No. We are literally in the process of sending out the i-130 packet today (i-130 & i-130a), and the i-485 packet (i-485, i-864, i-765 & i-131) by the end of the weekend. I am currently on an expiring J1 Visa.

Oh, ok.  Spouse petition, AOS, AoS, EAD and AP (Advance Parole).  ;)
