  1. Hello all! Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I believe it isn't. I am the beneficiary of a spousal application, we applied in June, of 2022. We applied for 485, 131, 130 and 765 and as yet have not received any. I understand the average waiting times for greencards are lengthy and have no issue with this, but is becoming increasingly necessary that I am able to earn money soon. I went in to my local USCIS office a couple of weeks ago, and the officer was nice enough to sit me down and look at the case on the system. Evidently because of the enormous backlog, he said it appears as if my application had been earmarked for an interview waiver and would go straight to decision. He also said he could see it had been in 'final adjudication' since September. Fine. It seems however that in the process here my applications for work and travel permits are being ignored. At least that's how I see it. Is anyone aware if this is the case? Are there any steps I can take to ensure the USCIS is still aware I would like, and need, a permit to work and potentially travel home to the UK to see relatives? I have already applied for expedition in both instances, and after the request for supporting evidence (which I faxed off immediately around 2 months ago) have heard nothing. A separate officer in a different USCIS office (when I attempted to apply for an emergency parole doc) also told me "If I were you I would be going on the website and prompting them everyday". I'll be honest I have no idea what this means, and he was extremely careful to keep repeating "this isn't advice, just what I would do". Clearly I am clueless, and clearly there are probably tens of thousands like me, I just wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom to drop. Sincerely A desperate Brit.
  2. Absolutely, my apologies for misposting. I was very confused at the beginning of this.
  3. We are living together currently. I have been in the country for 5 years on a J1 Visa and we are on the same lease. Does this change anything? Thanks!
  4. Also, I keep seeing the phrase 'if there is a visa number already available when you are filing you can file your i-130 and i-485 concurrently'. What does this mean? Do I have a visa number? Would that be from my J1?
  5. Thanks Wheels, you're being an enormous help. So being that I already have the pack assembled and ready to go, would you say I may as well just send the paper copy then? Would you do two entirely separate packets (Basically envelopes) inside a larger one?
  6. Thanks for all replies. Time is a slight concern for me as my J1 is up in a couple of weeks, so I think I'm going to keep my assembled packet together and fill out the i-130/i-130a online. Seems like the quickest way to get things done. Is it a fact that you cannot send the i-485 packet until you've sent the i-130 packet?
  7. Interesting! We've finished preparing the i-130 packet now, but you would still recommend doing it online? Is providing photos/evidence etc not a lot harder online?
  8. Yes, however this is not the AOS form, this is the i-130. I just filled out the address and date from on the computer and then hand wrote 'present' in the date to section. Does this seem correct? I'm not sure which form or section you are referring to with your comment about adjusting or consulate interview? Could you explain
  9. I know this has been asked before, but I have been reading online and believe the USCIS policy may have changed. a number uscis account number other names used province postal code spouse 2 these are examples of sections which I do not have an answer. Do we think it is now acceptable just to leave blank? Thanks!
  10. My wife (US citizen) and me (UK citizen) are filling out the i-130 currently. We are both currently present in the United States. My question is with regard to 59.a. I feel it worded strangely and only applies to a spouse who is overseas? Being that it says 'last address you lived together'. We currently live together. Do we just leave this whole section blank? It has a date from and date to, but I cannot obviously fill out date to as the answer is 'present' and it wants a m/d/y format. Thanks in advance! Ian
  11. No. We are literally in the process of sending out the i-130 packet today (i-130 & i-130a), and the i-485 packet (i-485, i-864, i-765 & i-131) by the end of the weekend. I am currently on an expiring J1 Visa.
  12. Tried to find the answer to this already but couldn't. In the process of submitting all documents with regard to recent marriage to US citizen, my J1 visa is expiring in a month or so. While waiting for the outcome of that mammoth amount of paperwork, I would like to be able to travel home to see my parents who I haven't seen since pre pandemic. I'm going though form i-131, but unsure on some check boxes. Part 2 gives me these options I'm unsure if I should select 1.a. or 1.d? I guess the question is answered by if I need to apply for a reentry permit, or an advanced parole document? I think I am thinking in technicalities as by putting 1.a. I am not a permanent resident or even conditional resident yet as all that paper will be sent off at the same time as this form. Hope that made sense! Thanks! Ian
