Job offer as reason to expedite I-130 process

Hello everyone, me again.

So a while ago I went to visit my wife in WNY. While I was there she took me to the school where she works at to introduce me to some of her colleagues, etc. It has come to my attention now that her principal is interested in hiring me once my visa is approved. My question is that whether or not this potential job offer would qualify as a reason to expedite the process. It would be as an ESL teacher in an area that desperately needs them, which is why he wants to hire me.

Thanks again for all the help.

Job offer for the beneficiary generally isn't reason to expedite.

Are you a certified teacher in South Africa/another country?

With current qualifications could you start working immediately or do you have to go through re-certification?

If you apply for expedite you should show proof you'd be able to start working immediately/start of the school year...

If you plan on teaching in the US. I would research the steps you need to take. Each state has different rules.

ETA: As you are still at USCIS level. You would have to expedite at NVC level, too. I don't know if you'd manage to move to the US in time for the start of the school year.

Thanks for the reply.

Charter schools do not require certification on a state level (this is a charter school, I should have mentioned that). That being said I am in the process of completing my PRAXIS exams to be able to complete teaching certifications in the US, and I'm completing an M.Ed degree online through a US based institution, which gives some breathing room in terms of being employed according to some research I have done.

Good to know!

Michigan requires certs for everyone... even at a charter school!

Every state is different.

Hope you get your NOA2 soon.

Assuming they are non cap a H1b which allows dual intent would be more logical.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank you for all the replies. Sorry for only responding now, it was a killer work week.

Ok, I will talk to the principal and see what we can figure out. If it works, it works. If not then oh-well.

Thanks everyone and good luck moving forward.
