Yes, each time that you successfully navigate to the next page, your prior page is saved... emphasis on the "successful".  Too many times, we tried to advance to the next page only to be thrown to the login page again.  Since time is not critical in entering your DS-260, maybe waiting will safe you a few gray hairs.

Is there are a hard time limit on filling in the ds260? Especially if you have a high number?

 

Two of my kids passports have expired since I applied and it will take 6-8 weeks to get a new one.  So looking at July before I can fill the ds260 in. 
 

Or is it ok to use expired passports now and update latter (or if I get an interview bring old and new with me)?
