Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saturday that the Iraqi army and police are capable of keeping security in the country when American troops leave "any time they want," though he acknowledged the forces need further weapons and training.

The embattled prime minister sought to show confidence at a time when congressional pressure is growing for a withdrawal...

...

But one of his top aides, Hassan al-Suneid, rankled at the assessment, saying the U.S. was treating Iraq like "an experiment in an American laboratory." He sharply criticised the U.S. military, saying it was committing human rights violations, embarassing the Iraqi government with its tactics and cooperating with "gangs of killers" in its campaign against al-Qaida in Iraq.

Indeed. While this statement certainly doesn't rise to the level of them actually asking us to leave (it's more of an "I don't need you anyway" statement), here's an excerpt from a White House presser dated May 24 2007:

Q Thank you, Mr. President. You say you want nothing short of victory, that leaving Iraq would be catastrophic; you once again mentioned al Qaeda. Does that mean that you are willing to leave American troops there, no matter what the Iraqi government does? I know this is a question we've asked before, but you can begin it with a "yes" or "no."

THE PRESIDENT: We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation. Twelve million people went to the polls to approve a constitution. It's their government's choice. If they were to say, leave, we would leave.

That's not a war, it's a slaughter. Americans beating up old ladies and killing children does not a war make.

America - a nation of cowards - why don't you go into Waziristan? Osama Bin Laden is there. Al Qaeda is there. Because then you'll face a rag-tag army that may beat you. There are actually men there. With guns.

America is a paper tiger.

Door Gunner: Git some! Git some! Git some, yeah, yeah, yeah! Anyone that runs, is a VC. Anyone that stands still, is a well-disciplined VC! You guys oughta do a story about me sometime!

Private Joker: Why should we do a story about you?

Door Gunner: 'Cuz I'm so f#ckin' good! I done got me 157 dead gooks killed. Plus 50 water buffalo too! Them's all confirmed!

Private Joker: Any women or children?

Door Gunner: Sometimes!

Private Joker: How can you shoot women or children?

Door Gunner: Easy! Ya just don't lead 'em so much! Ain't war hell?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. For someone wanting to enter our country...you sure seem a bit hostile.

I have known many young men and women that have went to Iraq. They are serving their country..and doing a job. Yes, as with any war, there are innocent people that end up as victims. They do not seek out women and children to harm them. There have been many children and women going up to the troops thanking them as well....but you never hear much of that do ya?

I also wonder if you are a true British person...or if you've migrated there from another country, hence your hostility.....because the British soldiers as well as other countries are there as well fighting along the side of us. I am not a Bush supporter.....but I do support our troops. They did not want to go there...nor do they want to be there..they have a job to do, and they are doing it...and that goes for every country with soldiers stationed there.

I suppose tho the conditions in England aren't any better...with all the "Asians" as the Northern British refer to them..(or Arabs) moving in taking over the neighborhoods, buying up all the properties, taking all the jobs....if a British child makes fun of an Arab child, they are reported to the authorities and wrote up, and their parents are talked to. If an Arab child makes fun of a British child, nothing at all is done. Where's the justice in that?....and what EXACTLY is that teaching the children...of both nationalities?????...Personally, and it's my own opinion, some laws need to change in ALL countries.

OH...and FYI...it is not proven Osama is there in Waziristan....just as other videos have been doctored..and just released as "new footage" ..when in fact it was old video.....it is just speculation.
