Hi,

It has been a while since I last posted here...  I started my visa journey via K1 in 2008, and I am now filing for my naturalization. Just wondering if there are any other filers that live in WI but got sent to the Minneapolis, MN field office for their interview and also wondering if this location does same day oath, as I have seen other offices do.  I am a bit surprised because all of my other immigration appointments in the past have been at the Milwaukee, WI Field Office, since I live in Wisconsin. Distance-wise the MN is closer to where I live.

I also tried to find a group for the July 2021 filers but it does not look like there is one.

Any tips/ suggestions for the interview will be greatly appreciated, this will be my very first interview with an immigration official since my K1 as all my other applications got approved without being interviewed in the past.

As to being moved to a different office, I cannot say for sure, but there is some workload balancing that occurs within USCIS.  I am also not sure if Minneapolis does same day oaths, but here is a Minneapolis specific thread for N400 filers.  Reading some of the recent responses in this thread seem to indicate they do not do same day oath ceremonies.

As to prepping for the N400 interview, there are a lot of sample interviews on YT, and here is the study material for test.  Also, here is the link for the July 2021 N400 filers.

Good Luck!

Hello, I live in WI and I had my interview at the Minneapolis office 03/15. I did my biometric at the Milwaukee office so I was shocked to go to MN.

I was interviewed by a guy called Leslie. He was respectful and straight to the point. He asked me 6 questions in total because I got them all right. He also reviewed my application with me and confirmed all my information. I printed the application for my own reference. I had to read some dates and addresses out of it. He did not ask for any other documents from me.

I did not get my approval because I did not upload my last lease to prove my residence out of Wisconsin. I just moved to Wisconsin less than 90 days when I applied. I also did not have a paper copy. He told me everything looks fine and that I will get my approval once I submitted the documents.

This location does not do same day oath ceremonies.

The building has a parking garage that I used. I paid $18 for about 3 hours spent there. There are also vending machines for snacks and drinks. You will only be allowed to go in about 15mins to your interview time. You can go in to use the restroom if you need to.

My experience went well ☺️.

Thank you Dashinka and dove3030 for your replies!

Dove3030, any word on your approval yet or your oath ceremony date? I am only one week away from my interview. Thanks a lot for all the pointers, it definitely helps to ease the mind knowing what to expect.

Hello, hope you are prepared 😀. I was denied because I applied too early. I applied 67 days into my residency in Wisconsin. I will reapply later, before the end of the year.

I wish you best of luck. As long as you can answer the test questions you will be fine. I printed out my application and read from it to refresh my memory of dates and addresses. Take care

I am so sorry to hear that you got denied!  I did not even remember there was a residency requirement for the state. I have lived here for th e14 years I have been  in the country, so I did not even pay attention to that requirement. Will you have to pay the fee again? Bummer :(

My interview was today and I received the "Congratulations, we have recommended the approval of your application." The officer said I should be receiving a notice for the oath ceremony in the next weeks.

I had all my papers and tax transcripts, and originals, and they did not ask me for anything just my green card.

Good luck on your new application!

Does anyone else have recent experiences here?

We just had a combo interview and the guy was friendly but couldn't care less about his job. In and out in ten minutes and he didn't ask to see any of the additional evidence we brought, while also saying he couldn't make a decision today.
