Our status changes today to “Transferred to another US consulate” from Johannesburg Embassy.   We did not request this.  What does this mean and why?

Can you provide more information?

What visa did you apply for?

Is the applicant a citizen of South Africa or legal resident?

K1 visa and South African citizen.  The last update from the embassy was waiting for medical records.   At the interview they took her passport stating they still needed the medical records.   It’s very confusing why it would be transferred.

I would email or call the consulate.

Especially as the interview has already happened. It might just be an error.

Have you ever seen this.  I did read that if the consulate is overwhelmed they may transfer.  Make sense??

I have never seen a case transferred after the interview.
