I am at the I-864 process and am creating the portfolio of Original Documents to send to my wife.  The CEAC says to send Original Documents while people on this site are saying Civil Documents.  Same thing?

Secondly I read where one needs to send an original birth certificate of the joint sponsor.  A copy of her American Passport isn't good enough?  I don't see where the NVC is asking for joint sponsor's birth certificate.

Most of the documents submitted at the NVC stage are civil documents.

You will submit copies of them on the CEAC site, and give the original to your spouse.

What is being asked for? Proof of US citizenship or birth certificate?

When you are submitting the documents to the NVC, you will be asked for either specific documents or given the option to pick one of several.

That is the question you will need to respond to.

Maybe I need to elaborate more.  I am the petitioner.  I am using a sponsor.  My daughter.  Everything is submitted to the NVC.   I am collecting original documents and searching on this site looking for more info.  I read, on this site, that an American Consulate, if I remember correctly, requested an original birth certificate for the sponsor.  I've looked at CEAC and I don't see it as a requirement.

Does anyone know about this.  Is there a place on CEAC that explains about documentation for co-sponsors?

Randy32 I did look at your link and I don't see an answer to my question.  If I remember correctly a copy of her passport would suffice for the I-864 application.  I can't send her passport as evidence so this is why I ask if they require a copy of her birth certificate.
