Can my wife travel? Expired green card, waiting to remove conditions

My wife Green Card has expired, but we applied to remove condition. She had her fingerprint appointment already but I heard the process could take a year for her to receive her new green card.

 

We received a letter I-797, Petition to remove conditions on residence. The letter states that she can use this letter and expired green card as evidence of your status and work authorization. 

 

But my wife is going out of the country to go visit her family. Can she travel with the letter and expired green card? Will she have issues at airports outside of America? Please assist. Are all the airports outside of america know about this or will some not understand? I don't want her run into issues or be stuck in another country.

Is her extension letter still valid? If yes, then she can travel with the expired green card + the extension letter with no issues. I have done it myself multiple times, entering through JFK each time. Maybe others who have experiences with other US and non-US airports can chime in. I did not have any issues at airports outside of the US.

 

PS. I also have Global Entry. When I entered through JFK, I used the Global Entry kiosks. CBP only asked to see the Global Entry printout, did not even ask for my passport, green card or letter. Review here in case you are interested.

I saw the thread. I have travelled internationally multiple times, no issues whatsoever. I did not go to the Philippines though. And obviously no one can guarantee what your wife's experience will be. I am only sharing with you what I know and what my experience has been.

Not needed if the extension letter is still valid when she plans to return to the US.
