I too am worried that Scott will sit around stir crazy with nothing to do. This whole topic is making me think we should have him fly through JFK, and then get the big truck and drive it back and forth. Doing it from Canada, it just seems silly to have him fly when we can drive his stuff down here... hmm :/

But then like another poster said (sorry I forgot who after reading 3 pages), you're not realistically losing the whole 3 months due to all the other things going on... so I'm not sure. Well, we have months to think about it.

I was considering flying through JFK as well so I don't have to sit around doing nothing for all those months, the problem is that all the major Canadian airport have US immigration pre-clearance, so I'm not sure we'd be able to get the stamp at JFK anyway. I assume that you get the stamp in the US customs and immigration area at JFK? So I think Canadians are pretty much screwed as far as temporary EAD goes...

You are right. Again, I wasn't thinking.

I think it's b/c Scott STILL has our freaking packet 3 and I am going to kill him. Jeraly, you said something about it seemed like Jeremy didn't care b/c he wouldn't make a call... I feel the same way. He's all "I'll get to it when I get to it".

I think I am going to lose my mind. Seriously. How do I keep from exploding at him? :(

I mean track DHL - I have the numbers but I don't seem to be able to sign up for e-mail alerts - I can't see why they wouldn't have that but... :/

They do have that, b/c I remember doing it when tracking ours. I found it and clicked on it and just remember seeing a link that said "sign up for tracking for this package" or something to that effect.

That royally sucks monkey whatnots!! I'm going to have to e-mail myself the tracking number and just sit and refresh the page like I did with my bridesmaid dresses!!

Yea, I signed up for email alerts too. I was surprised when that apparently means ALL tracking changes, including those in the past. I immediately got 10 or 12 text messages to my phone (as well as emails - you can do both) for all the past history on the package.

Oh no, not MONKEY WHATNOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, we finally have our MNL case number from NVC. It looks like we will probably have an april interview date. finally it feels like we are close to being together.

Chris

How did you find out that NVC had received your case number and get your MNL number? We got our NOA2 at the same time. I just called the NVC automated calling thing and they still don't have a record of my case. Do I need to call and talk to someone instead?

Jeff.. Call the DOS 202-663-1225, dial 1 then 0 to speak to a visa specialist.

If tell them you want to check on the status of a visa and give them your receipt number from the NOA1/2

They will tell you the new MNL number and you can ask for specific information like date of actions. When the NVC got it, when it left, when it arrived at the embassy etc.. they will also be able to tell you when the interview date is.. whenever the embassy gets around to issueing them agian.

Thanks for the information. I was just checking out the Manila embassy website and they say this in their FAQ:

"Can an applicant request an earlier visa appointment?

If an applicant wishes to advance the visa interview appointment, he/she should write the Embassy or call the Immigrant Visa Call Center to request an earlier appointment. Requests for earlier appointments are granted only if there is a space available. Fiancé(e) visa applicants are scheduled for interviews only on Fridays. "

I wonder if this would really work, or if they ever have space available. We are planning on getting married in May, so an April interview is still manageable, but March would be much nicer. Especially being a 23 year old college student and I have to work around my school and internship schedule.

...we will probably have an april interview date.

Chris

OMG... I really want her to have her visa in hand around the end of March although I guess it really doesn't matter since I've asked for time off work from May 23rd thru June 23rd!! I'll go there and we'll have some time with my soon-to-be in-laws and then a few days vacation somewhere in Thailand then it's "To the States".

I plan on us arriving in San Francisco and hanging out a few days then maybe to the Redwood Forest then a big road trip to Zion & the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley on the way to plain ole' Kansas City.

I want her to really get a sense of America. We'll stay off the Interstates and just take Hwy's and back country roads all the way back.

I wanted to drive up the coast from San Fran to Portland & Seattle but that would add better than a week to the whole thing.

Our Visa Journey

07/29/07 ---- Mailed I-129F

08/25/07 --- Check finally cashed (8/27 I should be able to see the R number on the back).

08/27/07 --- NOA1 Arrives from CSC and I create my account profile on the USCIS.Gov web-site (the clock starts)!!!

02/05/08 --- After 191 days NOA2 (Approval) comes at last!!!!

2/14/08 --- NVC sends letter saying that it's on the way to the US Embassy in Bangkok

2/25/08 --- She receives Packet 3 from the Embassy

3/29/08 --- She receives Packet 4 with interview date (July 11th).

3/30/08 --- I e-mail the Embassy asking to make the date earlier because I've already got our tickets for June 13th!!!

5/6/08 --- No help from the Embassy. Rebooked tickets and vacation till September.

5/21/08 --- Embassy calls her and moves interview to May 27th!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!

9/21/08 --- POE San Francisco!!!!

12/8/08 --- Married!!!!

12/15/08 --- Mail AOS + AP + EAD package to Chicago

12/28/08 --- Come back from vacation and find AOS/AP/EAD NOA 1 and Bio App notices in the mailbox!!!

Ooooh, that sounds so great! My SO and I did part of that trip a few years ago. We saw the Redwoods and were both stunned; it's the most amazing place I've seen so far. And we drove from SF up to Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver, part of the PCH, and it was so gorgeous.

That brings back nice memories. :)

I found out that the K1 visas arent entered into the automated system. So you have to press 1 adn then 5 to speak to an agent. Call either NVC or DOS btu speak with an agent. dont use the automated system.

I am guessing april since there are alot in Dec that got their NVC case number but didnt get a scheduled interview yet since Feb was filled. So i figure the rest of dec will take up the march interviews and the Jan case numbers receivers will get april. I could be wrong, i would love to be wrong, but i think im on track.
