You already asked this question today and not only on this part of the forum.

Please start reading the guides, application forms and looking at the example forms. We have been doing our best to answers your questions, but I think it's time you pay closer attention to the information that is given to you before asking the same questions over and over again.

As I said in the other forum, cover letters are not required.

I used mine mainly for my own reference, I think - typed that up before putting the whole package together, and used it as a checklist. It's definitely not worth going to all this grief over - I'd say, if it's that confusing that you can't fathom how to do one, then don't bother. The inclusion (or non-inclusion) of a cover letter surely won't make a blind bit of difference to anything!

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I also used it as a checklist. I read the instructions from USCIS - although I made that mistake on my husband's EAD :(

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

Yes, I too did a cover letter for my own uses. However USCIS will most likely ignore it and it is certainly not a requirement.

Honestly though, Sands, I think you might want to contact a lawyer. You seem to be having issues with every minor detail of the AOS application. If you can't figure out the simple stuff, imagine what you might be messing up and not realising?

It'a not necessary to include a cover letter. Don't worry about it too much. my daughter's AOS application was returned for something not signed. the cover letter was separated from the application and stapled together with other unnecessary documents we submited.
