Due to the fee increase I am trying to submit my petition about 3 weeks earlier than planned (was planning on mid-to-late August when I happened upon the fee increase announcement). I am currently living in Mexico and do not have access to my personal checks here with me. I will ask my mother to send me a few (they're stored in her basement with the rest of my US stuff :) ) but was wondering if there is an alternative to pay the $170 fee? I know a money order, but I'm not sure that Mexico has that. Also, is there anyway to pay with credit card checks (my company can send them to me and I can save my mom the burden)?

Additionally, the examples that this site gives are incredible (as is this site- I don't know what I would do without it- how do I donate to keep it up and running?). I am using them as my templates, but wonder if I should erase the titles (i.e. Letter of Intent to Marry, etc), as formal letters usually don't include titles? If I do erase those titles, should I add post-its to label what everything is?

Since I am trying to get it in before the fee increase I will send it around the 24rd of July. If I use FedEx or DHL will that count as my "postmark?"

Have your mom send them if she can.

The examples with titles, are correct. Use them.

Your postmark is when they receive it. Be sure you file a few days before 7/30/07 though.

I think using an personal check is worth the effort. "Postmark" may or may not be an issue but it means the day the US Postal service marks the mail received at the originating post office. Remember, FedEx and DHL don't deliver to PO boxes. You may want to use a postal service or get the courier delivery address for your service center. Make sure it is delivered a few days before the 30th.

Ok, so not to be thick, but then LEAVE the titles on the letters and what not, even though I would normally never send a letter with a title as such? Additionally, should I label the proof of our relationship such as a joint cell phone contract, my rent contract (he was the witness, but also to provide proof that I was living in Puebla)? Since these things are in Spanish, should we translate them (like the FULL cell phone contract or the 7-page rent contract- both of which don't have interesting info but rather provide proof for our ongoing relationship)?

Thanks!

Yes, WITH TITLES on them. It's not normal but it's easier for the adjudicator to read them.

If you follow the guides, you will be fine.

Actually with the I-129f, you need only send proof of meeting within the last 2 years. I submitted boarding passes of trips we took together & passport stamps, along with 6 photos. Your cell phone contract doesn't really mean much except that you were in Mexico (not as important as the lease). Your lease would mean more. Perhaps you can translate only the signed page, providing it has the important details & dates. What primary evidence do you have as proof you've met?

No, my bank doesn't have a branch- but good idea.

Added question: since my fiance has two last names (as is the custom in Mexico) should I just hyphenate them? Ex: John Doe Smith (Doe being the father's name and thus the last name he'll use in the US) becomes John Doe-Smith I would just drop the second one on the forms and letters but I don't want the process to take longer due to a confusion with it matching up with his birth certificate and what not. Any thoughts on that?

Also, I searched for the courier service of the Nebraska Service Center (will be using my parents' address since I'm remaining in Mexico during this process) and can't find it. Do you know how I can find it Pushbrk?

Finally, in terms of proof, Devilette. I thought the cell phone contract would be proof because he had to sign for me since I am a foreigner AND because our cells are linked to have unlimited calling (proof of ongoing relationship?). I'm going to send an airline TICKET (not boarding pass since I don't think I still have it since I came to Mexico last August- will that make a difference), photos and was thinking the contracts and the rent would do. The rent contract is MY RENT, not living with him. He just was there to help me with the Spanish and to sign as a witness. Will that do?

Thanks for clarifying the titles issue.

Not sure about 2 last names....might have to ask in the Mexico forum.

Do you have an entry stamp in your passport? Do you have a job in Mexico or go to college? You can provide a copy of an enrollment/job letter if so. The contract + rent is good. Proof you are in Mexico with him, or have been anyhow.

You can file at Cali or Vermont NOW, before July 30th.

USCIS will accept Forms I-129F, I-131, I-140, I-360, I-485, I-765 and I-907 filed with the new “Direct Filing” location in advance of the July 30, 2007 effective date, that are otherwise properly filed.

Ok, so I read the memo but I don't HAVE to file at the Vermont if I'm filing before July 30. Can you see any reason why I would maybe prefer to switch to the Vermont Service Center (faster service than Nebraska?, NSC terminating services to K-1 application and therefore slower service?, etc.)?

You do not have a choice where to file, it depends on your home address. Which is...?

No, I understand I have to file at a specific service center as determined by my address. I'm living in Mexico but I'm using my parents' address is Ohio. That would make the California Service Center the place to file after the July 30 change.

However, since I am going to file before the July 30 change I can still file at the Nebraska Service Center (the memo stated I could send it to California before the July 30th change, but I think I would like to stick with the Nebraska Service Center since it seems faster and more efficient from what I've read).

Have you checked Western Union?

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Nebraska is gonna ship it to Cali anyway. They've been doing things like that for months.

and sending it directly would be faster....

Definitely send you petition directly to California.
