I submitted my petition for my fiance back in April 2021 and received my NOA1 later that month and I'm awaiting for my NOA2. In HCMC, Vietnam locked down for a while now due to the covid situation, how does this affect the process going forward? I've heard anywhere from the U.S. Embassy not operational, or limited, or only handling few interview a day. Does anybody know any information regarding the current K1 in Vietnam? Thanks

For current news on the US Consulate in HCMC, go to the their website.  https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

The US Consulate in HCMC is open with limited services.  No visa interviews at this time.

I know spouses and parents of US citizens who had interviews earlier this year.  There are also family based immigration cases where March 2020 interviews were cancelled and have not been rescheduled.  Essentially the US Consulate in HCMC has not conducted their regular number of interviews since March 2020.  There is a huge backlog of cases at the US Consulate in HCMC, so you probably have a long wait for an interview.

Is there really nothing that can be done to expedite this? It's almost sickening to hear this knowing I haven't seen my fiancé since early 2020.

I’ve seen in one chart in another thread here that the US consulate already went through the backlog caused by the march 2020 lockdown and has caught up before the lockdown this year. The current backlog starts with cases waiting for an interview since June 2021.

I don’t know how to find the source of that chart/data, though.

Note: the above applies to CR1/IR1, not sure about K1s.

Can you share which thread had the chart you mentioned?

I am DQ since sept 20, hopefully the consulate come back to work on Oct, but with all the VN restriction, vacination required by both Vn and Us, no quality Vaccines to take (although everyone knows its not working).

dont know how long the process should take!

I wish there was a way to expedite. I have been married to my wife for 3 years almost. I havent seen her since December 1st of 2019. We had our first interview on November 20 2020, and they gave us a 221 (g). We have been trying to schedule a new appointment ever since.

Our dead line ends in one month and they have been closed for soooo long. Im not even sure I can get an extension of some kind. We are losing our minds with fear of having to start all over.
