Birth certificate name differs from current passport name

Hello,

The name on my birth certificate, Ces F, was changed to Sherryanne F in a matter of a few months after my birth. Me and my fiancé are currently applying for the K1 visa and we are in the process of compiling documents for the I-129F packet. I was wondering if getting a revised birth certificate with my current name (Sherryanne F) from my country's consulate will suffice for this.

Additionally, in Part 2 of the form, in "Other Names Used", 10a - b - it asks to provide all other names used, including nicknames... So this is where we have mentioned "Ces F" as my parents and some close family members still call me Ces.

Just wondering if this is okay as we are doing everything by ourselves.

Are you Filipina? Your name and way of writing imply that you are. If yes, and if you are currently living in the Philippines, you will order your revised birth certificate from the PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority), not from the consulate.

If your legal name was changed after your birth, yes, you have to provide the BC that shows that name change.

Lastly, please do not share your full name on this very public forum because anyone can read your posts and steal your personal information (a real problem for anything immigration-related). You can use aliases instead.

Hi,

I'm actually not Filipina, I'm Indian. Sorry about sharing my full name. I was informed my revised birth certificate will not mention it is revised and will not have an issue date. I'm wondering if this is an issue?
