Hi all,

again, asking for help!!

Since becoming DQ’d, I’ve got a raise at my job ($2K more).  Same company, technically a different title.

We have my dad as the joint sponsor (long story short I made more than what was needed, but because I made it in Canada on my US tax return it showed as foreign income and skewed the numbers).  My dad owns his own company and works for himself - his income is above the threshold but since he owns the company it always fluctuates a bit.

1. I’m planning on bringing an updated I-864 and most recent paystub to the interview, will I need a letter from my employer as well as more than one paystub?  Or is it fine to just bring the updated I-864 and 2020 tax info?

2. If I’m bringing the updated form for myself (the sponsor), will it look strange if I don’t bring an updated form and bank statements for my dad?  Again, his income is always over the threshold but does fluctuate.

Thank you so much, this forum is a lifesaver!!

You should probably upload your new i-864 AND have your spouse bring it as well.  One most current pay stub is fine.  No need to add employer letter.  Title and occupation are not the same thing, but if your occupation changed, change it on the form.

Dad is self employed.  Unless he has a newer tax return with a different total income than on his current form, there is nothing to update.
