Hello

I have just finished my biometrics appointment  for I751 lifting of conditions on my green card. It took 11 months to  get that biometric appointment.  I came here on a K-1 fiance Visa.  I have been married  to  the  same  person  (happily) and living in the USA now for  almost 4 1/2 years.   By December  22, 2021 I will have had my greencard  for  3 year's.   So my question is if by the date this I-751 process  is  still not fully  completed  can I at that time apply for  citizenship?  If so, how  will  it affect  the  process?  Will it create confusion?   The wait  time is so long and if it is  the correct  way  of doing  things would  like to apply asap because  of  the  lengthy  wait.

Thanks  I look forward to helpful  responses.

Yes, if you qualify to file the N400, you can certainly do that even with the I751 pending.  Many people do this especially if naturalization is the ultimate goal.  As to how it may effect timing, YMMV.  There are anecdotal stories all over, in my wife’s case, her N400 was approved within six months and that appeared to also speed up the I751 slightly.  Since N400s are processed entirely at the local offices, processing times vary greatly.

Good Luck!

With the Seattle office the N-400 with I-751 pending will actually DELAY the Removal of Conditions.
The USCIS will put both applications together for a dual interview.
The N-400 in Seattle is badly backlogged.
If you are at a location where the N-400 process is fast. It will speed up your pending ROC.
