Hi. I sent the paperwork to uscis to transfer my i751 as divorce waiver as we filed jointly and then got divorce later. Now it's been almost 7 months since I sent them copy of my divorce decree and everything but it just says we received some correspondence and will let you know if we need something else.

My extension of 2yr conditional GC expires in November and now I am getting worried.

Any ideas what to do in this situation!!

Thanks

There is not much you can do aside from waiting. As long as you have confirmation they got what you sent (which you do), just wait until they work it.

If you need to travel after the expiration of your extension, you can request an appointment at your field office for an I-551 stamp.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will proceed filing with the divorce waiver.

Good call. That's what the waiver is for, no need to misrepresent and cause additional problems. Others have already pointed you in the right direction, here's some additional info.

There's no need to make a statement clarifying/justifying the cause of divorce. Your selection on I-751 is enough to let them know it's waiver filing and submit your divorce filings. It will trigger an RFE for the decree.

Send as much evidence you can covering a period you were together that can prove the marriage was bona fide.

Hope for the best but don't panic if you get ROC interview. One step at a time.

Good Luck.

Thanks alot. I am afraid I wont be able to work or anything after the extension of the conditional green card expires which is valid only till Nov, 2021 and the status online says they received documents and will let me know if need anything. Since last 7 months.

Is there anyway to get that extended again or something?

As long as you have a pending i751 you can get the i551 stamp in your passport, you can work and travel. Schedule an appointment with USCIS to get the stamp within the 30 days before you extension letter expires.

You remain in status even after your green card and extension letter expires just the proof of your status expires.

Hello again, I am back with some final questions before I file my petition and hope you experts can shine some light.

Looking at the I-751 form, I was previously advised to state my Marital Status(Part 1.10) as "divorced". I am not divorced yet and therefore cannot provide a date for divorce on Part 1.13. Should I put "N/A" and explain my circumstance in the explanation letter?

AND

Is Part 8 (Spouse's Statement) supposed to be left completely blank?

I appreciate all your people's time and help. Thank you.

Hi.

I am also in the same situation but we filed jointly for removal of conditions and later got divorced and then i sent them all the documents including divorce decree but the status says they received the correspondence and they are reviewing it from last 8 months. Now my extension expires in december 21 and not sure how to get the appointment from uscis.

Any idea where to find that information and wait times for the interview for extending the extension of conditional green card?

Thanks alot for help already.

Hey, I'm sorry you're going through this.

I don't think there's any reason to be worried. USCIS are known to be taking their sweet time.

Regarding getting your proof of extension, you would need to schedule an InfoPass appointment for an I-551 stamp in your passport. You should give them a call on the number they provided you on your 18-month extension letter. Best of luck.
