Hello,

This my first post on the forum....

I'm French, I have a H1b visa. I've visited my family in France this summer but I didn't receive any answer for my NIE application. So I decided to spend 14 days in Mexico but I would like to flight to US as soon as possible.

I landed in Cancun July 19th at 7.30pm So far I have a flight August 2nd at 9.30am.... It's 14 nights but I don't know if it's 14 times 24 hours...

Does somebody knows if I can check it officially ?

I’ve been doing COVID case investigation and contact tracing for my local health dept.    Start counting 1 on July 20. That gets you to 14 on August 2…. ok to fly August 3

Yes. You need 14 full 24 hr periods clear  before you travel.  This is following the CDC guidelines for 14 days quarantine.

This the lawyer who made my visa one:

I'll check to verify, but generally for immigration purposes the days are calculated by the date, not 24 hour intervals. I believe that so long as your flight is on the 2nd you should be ok. But I'll verify for you.

 

What do you think? If I go to the airport tomorrow to take the covid test, somebody could give me a definitive answer?

I do not know the correct answer but I do know that this has been a source of considerable controversy where the issue is checking in for the flight to the US and check-in agents at the airport see things differently than the passenger does.  There have been a number of people denied boarding over controversy about what 14 days are.  It is the airline who's definition you must satisfy.

  • August 31, 2021: Stepdaughter Documentarily Qualified by NVC
  • September 15, 2021: Received Interview Date from NVC, October 05, 2021
  • September 22, 2021: Passed physicals at Saint Luke's Extension Clinic
  • October 05, 2021: Interview at US Embassy Manila. Verbally approved by US Consul. Positive interview experience.
  • October 05, 2021: CEAC status changed to "Issued"
  • October 07, 2021: Passports tracking for delivery on 2GO Courier website
  • October 08, 2021: Passports with visas delivered.  "Visas on hand"
  • October 08, 2021: Paid Immigrant Fee
  • October 12, 2021: Temporary CFO Certificates Received
  • October 26, 2021 POE arrival at LAX
  • November 02, 2021 Social Security Cards arrive in mail
  • January 31, 2022: USCIS Status changed to "Card Is Being Produced"
  • February 04, 2022: USCIS Status changed to "Card Was Mailed To Me"
  • February 07, 2022: Green cards received.
