My husband went to his interview on June 23rd and was told the case was approved however because he forgot our marriage license as well as the medical report hadn't been received they put the case in refused status pending additional documentation. My husband sent the marriage license via DHL as well as confirmed receipt of the license as well as the medical report.

Our status recently went from "Refused" to "Ready" with verbiage about scheduling an interview.

What does that mean? He already went through the interview.

From what a lot of people here on VJ say, it’s a good sign and your husband’s visa should be issued soon.
When were you DQ’d? Did you expedite your case?

Hey Bri!

My husband is awaiting for an interview right now. They’re not being transparent on where we stand in the queue. If you don’t mind my asking, what is your priority date and when did your case become documenatarily qualified?

I am not familiar with all the terms used on this site but we started our Visa Journey in 2015 hence it has been a long challenging road that we fought to overcome. We were finally approved on June 23rd pending receipt of the marriage license and medical report. We thought the case status would go from "refused to issued" not "refused to ready" hence why we are questioning our current status of ready.

From other's experience on this forum, "refused" does not always mean denied, it might mean in administrative processing.

Hi All,

Want to give an update:

Our case went into ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING on Aug 3rd after being in READY since July 30th.

Naturally we freaked out a bit because we know the Consulate has all the documentation needed to finalize the decision. Did a little investigation and found this on US Embassy site for Japan:

https://jp.usembassy.gov/visas/nonimmigrant-visas/visa-status-check/

This provides a thorough explanation of what each status could mean. After reviewing the above link we were able to calm down a bit because  based on the explanation ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING could mean the Visa has been approved and waiting to be issued.

Guess WHAT???

My husband Visa was issued TODAY!!!!!! (Aug 5th) 😃😃😃

We are so very happy after 6 yrs of an uphill battle fighting tooth and nail we are FINALLY done!
