Criminal Background Check/ Police Certificate (VOG)

Hello everyone, I have a question.

I received the initial letter from the Embassy telling me to get the documents and fill out the DS-160. Afterwards I received the email that the Embassy requested me to get a VOG (criminal background check/ police certificate in NL) with a special code so I used that. The VOG has a processing time of 1-4 weeks. Considering potential back log at the embassy; should I send my letter back requesting them to make my interview appointment? And should I get the VOG translated after I receive it, I know it contains an English description but does the Embassy consider that enough?
Thank you for your help.
