Will someone please clarify the "rumors" about K-1's being forwarded to a location other than the location initially filed. I filed my 129F with the TCS on 05/22/07 and have not received any touches. I saw a few posts and heard rumors that all 129F's filed thru TSC are being directed to California. I also heard that all k-1 petitions will be processed and filed thru VSC.

What is true and what is false? Can someone clarify. If petitions are being moved, will it still be "processed in the order it was received"?

Bundy,

All I-129f petitions are currently being processed by either the CSC or the VSC. Up until the end of the month petitions submitted to the TSC or the NSC are being forwarded to one of the other two SCs, starting July 30 all I-129f petitions should be sent directly to either the CSC or the VSC, whichever is appropriate for the state where the petitioner resides.

Its not 'rumor'. For a while now, any K1s sent to TSC or NSC were forwarded to CSC for processing. VSC was uneffected by this (meaning those who fell under VSC's jurisdiction remained at VSC).

On June 21, USCIS put out a memo stating that the processing locations will be changed as of July 30 (at the same time as the fee increase). That same memo also stated that you can start sending the petition to the new location now - instead of waiting for July 30th.

The memo, along with the new locations by state, are all in this thread:

TSC and NSC haven't processed K-1s for awhile. But you were still required to send your petition there if you were in a state covered by it. That will change after July 30th, and you will be able to send your petition to VSC or CSC depending where you live.

Your petition was sent to California. After its received, you wont see any touches for about 2-3 months.

For a while, there were four service centers that processed K1 and K3 petitions. Those locations were Nebraska, Texas, Vermont, and California. Then, at some point in the past, Nebraska and Texas stopped adjudicating K1 and K3 petitions (I wasn't around here then, so I'm not exactly sure when that happened, but at least two years or so ago), but, the instructions for the petitions were never changed, so you were still to mail the petitions to Nebraska or Texas if you lived in one of "their" states, and the NSC or TSC would forward them on to California.

Now (as of July 30*), Nebraska and Texas still no longer process K1 and K3 petitions, but you can send directly to either California or Vermont, again, depending on where you live, but things should be more even now as to the number of petitions going to California and Vermont, so hopefully there will no longer be the great disparity of processing times between California and Vermont.

* You can send directly to the service center that will process it in advance of July 30, as long as you send it to the right one.

Thanks, that clears things up some. In your opinion, what affect will this have on processing times? My assumption is it is going to take longer than usual. I'm not in a hurry (although it would be nice to have my fiance here with me), but I am aware that things like this take time. Just an example of "Hurry up and Wait"!

Since I filed my paperwork, I haven't been keeping up with the new fee's and new filing process. I better give thanks I filied when I did.

I'm new to this site. What do you mean when you say "touched" ?

Is it when CIS officials view your file? If so, how do you find out?

Thanks for your answers

My understanding is that anytime your file is reviewed (physically "touched"), it will be noted as such on the USCIC website. If you have your case id #, you can make an online account to track the progress of your petition. A touch is basically a "teaser" that someone is working on your file.

A touch is when the last update date of your case in the online portfolio you create for your case(s) is changed. It means someone scanned the barcode on your file and you know someone handled it for some purpose. The status is not necessarily change, and you don't know what they did, but its nice to know that some did something, and that your file still exists.

Thanks Bundy and "Urge to Race". I get it now. But thankfully, it turned out I don't need to check the USCIS web site again (I hope) because I checked it this morning and it said that NOA2 was sent june 27th. Does that mean I have now to deal with the NVC and the Embassy?

Thank you for your input again. This site is great, I'm so glad I stumbled on it.
