Hey everyone,

We know our form was received November 27th and the credit card was charged February 21st and we've yet to receive a receipt notice, no e-mail or anything and it's been 4 months since it was received & 1 month since the payment went through. Is this what everyone else is experiencing or should we try to see if there's been an issue with our case? It's crazy since initially the receipt notice was max around 2 weeks after the packet was received and now it's 4 months, and actual visa processing time hasn't even started if we don't have a case number

Thanks everyone

You should go in the Emma chat(USCIS website) . There you can request live chat. That is how I was able to get my receipt#. It took a couple of weeks after that to get my text and longer for the actual paper to arrive in the mail. Good luck

Petition received   November 24.2020

There is no 'visa processing' at the petition stage.   There is no 'processing' for many months after sending in the petition.  Even pre-covid, they say there for 6 months before being looked at.

I mean the processing times on the wait time webpage that says 5-7 months at the California Service Center. If they haven't even given us a receipt notice then these 5-7 months haven't even begun till we get it

Right, like I said:  the petitions sit there for that entire time before anyone even looks at them to begin adjudicating.  The receipt date at the lockbox is the same whether you receive the notice two weeks after mailing the petition, or three months after.

In other words, even if you had received NOA1 two weeks after you mailed the petition, nothing would have happened with the petition until they were ready to adjudicate it, 8 months later or whatever.
