This might have been asked a couple of times buuuut, is there any system as to where applications go, or is random? I know that almost all K-1s go to California, is this the same for CR-1 applications? We are considering switching and I'm curious - I'm sure everyone hopes for the same but, hoping it's not somewhere like Vermont!

K1s and CR1s applications are submitted to overseas consulates.   Petitons are submitted to tbe USCIS and get assigned to service centers.  It seems random and unfortunately the petitioner doesn't get to choose.

YMMV

Oh I know how the petition itself works etc, I'm just curious if there is a common service center that CR-1s tend to get assigned to - like K-1s and California (but obviously then to their respective embassy - like mine is London). Ergh if we were allowed to choose, I'd definitely know which one I'd go for haha! It's always frustrating when these things are random, adds to the worry. But hey ho, nothing we can control!

You might know how the petition works but your use of terminology was not quite correct.

I130 petitions are randomly assigned amongst several service centers.

YMMV

My bad, considering changing and researching immigration options tends to make the brain a little tired after a while. Thanks for letting me know, though, always important to get things right! Thank you for your replies, I do appreciate it :)
