I-131 Reentry Permit to work abroad

I applied to renew my I-131 reentry permit for 2 years as my current document will expire.

My application was received at the Arizona Lockbox on November 28th. The check has not yet been cashed.

 

Can anyone advice on how long it is taking for USCIS to schedule biometrics for reentry permit? 

Biometrics were done in 3 weeks when I applied for reentry permit in 2019

 

I called USCIS and told them I need to leave the country on Dec 31 for my job. They said they are not able to do biometrics at an infopass appointment and I just need to wait 30 days before calling back. Any advice?

There is a major backlog for biometric appointments. Many who applied months ago for reentry permits are still waiting for the biometric appointment.

 

But you can leave the US now and return when the biometric appointment is scheduled. See 8 CFR § 223.2(b)(1).

Last post I saw of someone who got a bio appointment for i131 (earlier this week) was around 5 months after sending in application.

I applied for I-131 before 5 months, biometric were taken from old file after 3 months . 

the processing time now between 6 and 8 months 

 

it is taking a lot of time this year

Good to know. I am 2 months since I applied. I am overseas now and hopefully they use my old biometrics so I do not have to fly back.
