I don't know who in your opinion was trying to mythicize the holocaust. I think there is some disgust here with your apparent attempt to trivialize it as well as with your suggestion that "several memebers of this board" would condone reviving it.

By acting like something like that is out of the realm of human possibility (and clearly it's not, as it's occurring again in more than one place on Earth right now), we mythicize it. We suggest those people were not real people, not like us. I continue to stand by my comment.

Have you ever been to the remains of one of the concentration camps? It appears to me that you simply do not know what you're talking about. If you did, you wouldn't make such ridiculous comments.

In your case and my case, we actually have avenues for legal immigration. Those who came here as unskilled workers looking for work, didn't and still don't. We can with immigration reform create a way for them to come here legally, ....

How so? There are upwards of a billion people looking to come to America right now. No immigration reform will ever accomodate the desire of everyone that wants to come here. Why reward those that chose to take matters into their own hands (and thus out of ours) over those that play by the rules and get in that long line pursuing lawfully whatever limited chances there may be?

Who said we had to? There would hardly be enough jobs for all of them either. I'm not exactly how you took my comment about no visa being available for unskilled workers to mean we have to open immigration for everyone and anyone.

As far as I care, the visa should be capped at the number of jobs that we have open in the US for that type of worker and or they should already have a contract to work when applying for the visa.

Explain my TOS violation. I've expressed an opinion. I've accused no specific members of being hate-filled and I was making a comment on hatred, not saying that people here are ACTUALLY sitting at home devising plans to round up and kill illegal immigrants. (This should be obvious, but I know reading comprehension is in short supply here.) There was no baiting involved and I did not anticipate the response I got.

When you say "some people," you should say me, since that is what you mean. There was no intention of "scoring points," although I'm not sure what you mean. And I remind you, those people are not "monsters." To say I am referring to all people with an opposing view when I talk about hate-mongers is unfair and I think you know that. Or at least, you should.

maybe this hatred is an extension of your perception of others? Can there be an immigration debate without race baiting? If anything, VJ seems like the most diverse board I've ever seen. For some, this debate is about principle, what it means to be an american, and what is fair.

about the employent issue.. the conditions of workplaces didnt start when the illegals arrived to the USA.. it sure didn't help, but it wasnt the catalyst for it... read Fast Food Nation.. that started way before the illegals massively arrived, how the beef processing plants starting firing skilled workers for replaceable low payed Americans who just had to do 'simple labor' (of course, non-stopping simple labor).. so yea ET-US2004, this isn't Manchester.. but I still don't buy that without the illegals those plants are gonna pay more and treat them better.. they didn't do it before, I don't think they're gonna do it now..

It's very similar though. When you commit an illegal act (presumably to make a fresh start),

you have to live with the consequences forever. When you take something that didn't belong

to you (whether a dead person's identity or a place in American society) and build your whole

life on it, you run the risk that your life will collapse like a house of cards when the lie is found out.

It doesn't really matter that you have a family, a house and a career - when you base your

whole life on a lie, everyone and everything in your life are part of the same lie.

Well Stated, One reaps what they sew, When A person decides to commit a Criminal act and they have a family to support they really are not thinking for their families best interest as once they are caught they risk their families security & Safety, you break a federal law you should pay the Price, you enter a country illegally you should be made to leave and enter by legal means once you have paid fines, waited the 5 year ban and Applied legally.
